Pineapple Dole Whip

This Dole Whip is a creamy smooth pineapple frozen treat… just like at Disney! Made with only 3 ingredients and a blender!

I had heard that a trip to Disney wouldn’t be complete without getting a Pineapple Dole Whip. Whoever said that wasn’t kidding. When you’re out in the blistering sun all day, you need to cool down! What better way than with a tropical, sweet, smooth, melty treat?

The instant I tasted the legendary Dole Whip, I knew I had to recreate it in my own kitchen!

Now I can enjoy a Dole Whip whenever I want and be magically transported back to Disney… at least in my imagination.

a dietitian eating ice cream?

You’ll notice that there’s real ice cream in this recipe. You might be surprised to see that as an ingredient from a Dietitian’s recipe. But I’m not shy about it. I love desserts! I don’t even call it a guilty pleasure because I feel 0% guilt in enjoying ice cream. I used to feel guilty though. You can read my story here.

I used to overeat then feel guilty about it. Then I’d undereat to redeem myself. Then I’d overeat again and the whole cycle would repeat itself over and over and over again! It was exhausting! But as I started to forge a joyful relationship with food, I learned how to enjoy my favourite foods without fear of losing control and overeating them.  And now I have the immense pleasure of coaching others to the same goal in my I Quit Overeating online program!

Pineapple Dole Whip

why this pineapple dole whip is a smart choice

This recipe is a nice compromise between eating a) ice cream and b) fruit. It combines the best of both worlds! Pineapple is a good source of Vitamin C and fibre. And ice cream is just delicious 🙂

The Dole Whip at Disney is non-dairy.

Would you be able to make ahead of time?

Not really. Think of a soft serve ice cream cone: it would melt pretty quickly. If you try to freeze it then it would be too hard.

Would it still work if I used Greek yogurt instead of ice cream?

It wouldn’t be as thick but I think that would make a nice smoothie texture!

Do you drain the juice off the pineapple? It looks delicious.

The recipe needs frozen pineapple to get the right texture and temperature! I buy pre-frozen pineapple chunks.

Can this be made ahead? If so, should it be put in the freezer or the refrigerator; and would it change the texture?

It can’t really be made ahead as it will melt if left in the refrigerator or become too hard in the freezer 🙁

Maybe try adding some more pineapple chunks next time? Measuring it by cups is tough because each time it’s going to be a little bit different!

Hi, I had the same problem. I took out most of the juice (over half) and got great results. Probably depends on the power of your blender. Powerful blender pull a lot of liquid out of pineapple, even frozen pineapple. Happy blending. Hope this helps. Thanks for the great recipes, Jessica.
