I’m an idea person. I constantly have new ideas floating around in my head. Each new idea is always better than the last, and I fixate on it, until… well at least until the next idea comes around! I think up new blog articles, new recipes, new business ideas, etc.
When I made this bean dip, I thought, “This is the most amazing dip ever! More people should be enjoying this!” From there my idea maker kicked in, and I figured out a plan for hawking bean dips and hummuses at a farmers’ market. You’ve got your butcher, your baker, and I’m your hummus and dip maker! In my mind these ideas always scale up into crazy successful ventures, so I could soon see myself selling my dips at local grocery stores, and then across the nation at major retailers. I became the queen of bean!
My mind takes me on some crazy adventures, without ever having to leave the comfort of my house! The only downside is I think my husband gets a little worn out of listening to all my wild dreaming.

Why It’s A Smart Choice
Store bought dips are usually high in sodium. When you make bean dips and hummus recipes at home, you get full control of the ingredients! Black beans are featured in this dip. Black beans are a great source of folate, an important vitamin for pregnancy and heart health!

- 3 cups cooked black beans (2 cans, drained and rinsed)
- 2/3 cup salsa
- 1/4 cup canola oil
- 1/4 cup lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic
- 1/2 cup chopped onion
- 1 tsp oregano
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 tsp cumin
- Place all ingredients in a high-powered blender or food processor.
- Blend or pulse to combine.
